We are thrilled to announce the referral for our new daugther Lily. She is 3 years old and living in Liuzhou, Gaungxi (Southern China). We hope to travel to China to bring her home in late Spring 2008.

Waiting Children List Expected To Arrive Anyday
Our agency has been waiting for a new list of children for a few weeks now. It should arrive anyday (translation - it could still be another month).
Anyway, we are sure hoping we are lucky to get a match off this latest list. It's possible, but there are still other families ahead of us, so not a certainty.
Stay tuned over the next few weeks for news on the new list. If we don't get a match off this list we will have to wait anywhere from 4-6 months (translation - Summer 2008) from now for another list.

Still Waiting For A Match
Well we heard from our agency this morning. No match this time. We will have to wait for the next set of profiles (Fall 2007), or maybe the next list (Winter 2008)after that.
We are not that far down the list, the people ahead of us just want the same type of profile, and the profiles sent to our agency just don't have lots of young little girls. We need to wait till they are all matched before it's our turn. So we go back to waiting (or preparing if you look at it postively).

Waiting Children Profiles are In
Our agency has just received profiles for children this week. We're sure hoping that we will be able to receive a match off this list. Hopefully we'll find out within a few days or so. Stay tuned.

Our Log-In-Date - Feb 14, 2007
Our Log-In-Date is now officially Feb. 14, 2007. This is the date that China officially received our dossier of paperwork. If we were with the non-special needs program this date would be very important. It would hold our place in line to adopt. However, given we are with the Waiting Children's program it's not very important beyond the fact that it confirms China does have our paperwork, and the "old" rules (that change on May 1, 2007) should still apply to us.

Request Sent to China

Finally are request has gone to China. What a great Christmas present!
All our paperwork has been translated and approved by the Chinese Embassy. In addition, I was just notified the other day that our agency has recently sent our "Request to Adopt" to China. However, we're not exactly sure how long it will take to match us to our daughter.
China has recently introuduced some new processes that will become effective in the New Year. We're not sure if this will speed up our match or slow it down. We'll probably find out the details of the new processes within a month so so.
If things stay as they are for timelines, we're probably looking at about 12 months (more or less) from now before we get a match. Then we review and accept the referral. After that it could take a few months before we finally go to China to pick up our new daughter.

Why Adoption, China, and the Waiting Children's Program
Why Adoption?
We believe all children deserve a loving family regardless of whether they are born into the family, or come into that family by adoption. We felt that adoption was choice we could make to "grow our family".
Why China?
We believe all children are deserving of a loving and supportive home regardless of borders. Adoption, for us, is about finding the right child and right adoption process that most suits the needs of our family. After looking at a variety of adoption choices, China seemed to offer us the best match in terms of the child and process that we were looking for.
Why the Waiting Children's Program?
We believe all children are deserving of a family's love regardless of their unique needs. We feel we have the ability and resources to welcome a child that has a correctable condition (e.g. clubfoot, cleft-lip, etc.) into our family.
